The family’s spirit of continuous improvement, in the vineyard and the cellar, coupled with our passion, commitment and innovation always remain constant. They are joined today by our pride in being third-generation vine growers. But our philosophy has not changed since 1957: we primarily cultivate native varieties, in particular Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto, which make up 85 percent of our production. All the grapes we use come from the 42 hectares (104 acres) that we own and manage. In concert with the best local consultants, we follow the entire production cycle, from pruning the vines to marketing the 250,000 bottles that we make each year.
Three generations of winemakers, a family bursting with the DNA of the Langhe farmer.
Our DOC and DOCG wines are produced according to Langhe traditions and are now exported to over 60 countries.
Only varieties native to these hills.
There are new generations, new production paradigms and new languages being spoken in the Langhe. English, Macedonian, Japanese, Norwegian, German, Maghreb: voices and faces from around the world that, with those who have always been here, are re-animating the vineyard paths, vines and cellars. People who bring new interpretations and commitment to the Langhe and love both its generosity and its severity.
A duchess from Alba, a count from Grinzane, royals, marquises and dozens of farmers: international ambassadors for our wine and our region. Commoners and nobles, beloved of their wine: teaching each the art of waiting, of which winemakers are the masters. Choosing where to plant, evaluating vineyard exposure and selecting the right varieties: respectful years spent looking Nature square in the eye. Planning, caring for the land, observing and learning that no plan, no amount of care, or observation can grasp the essence, the magic of the Langhe. No matter how big the hands of the producer, the character of the wine always shines through.
Harvest, vinification, ageing. Gentle pressing, stainless steel tanks, temperature control and French oak barrels.
And glass, either the bottle or the drinking vessel, contains a message that, with the aid of Portuguese corks, arrives intact in every country to proclaim the Langhe: a thin, intense red thread that travels thousands of kilometres, linking years of the winemaker’s work with the passion of innumerable wine lovers the world over. Here is a land that moves towards the market, with winemakers that take to the skies after months in their vineyards. We are that land.
If you would like to meet us, we will welcome you at the Pelissero winery. Or you can find out much more about us by simply opening one of our 250,000 bottles: Barbaresco Vanotu, Barbaresco Tulin, Barbaresco Nubiola, Dolcetto (Munfrina and Augenta), Barbera (Piani, Tulin), Riesling, Nebbiolo, Long Now, Favorita and Moscato. Each of these will tell you all about the characteristics of the 42 hectares (104 acres) we cultivate in the municipalities of the Barbaresco region: Treiso, Neive, Barbaresco and Neviglie, just a stone’s throw from Alba, and of the grape varieties that we have been harvesting since 1957: Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. They express themselves in straight Piedmontese, but with echoes of the Balkans, Norway, North Africa and beyond…
